About Bee Day
Bee Day is an annual event that is held in the spring each year at the Bemis Honey Bee Farm. Admission to the event is free and open to the public of all ages. Bee Day focuses on teaching and bettering beekeeping practices by offering a day filled with free classes, live demonstrations, information, food, fun and activities for all ages.
If you are interested in becoming a beekeeper, Bee Day is the event to attend. Our free classes and live demonstrations are for beekeepers of all skill levels. For those who ordered in advance, Bee Day is the day to pick up their honey bees. Although the Bee Store will be open, we recommend purchasing your bees and equipment from Bemis Honey Bee Farm before this date so you’ll be ready to go at the start of the event.
Mark your calendars for the 10th Annual Bee Day on April 22, 2023. This is the largest gathering of beekeepers in the state!

The Importance of Bees
FOOD SECURITY
In order to be able to feed the world’s growing population, we need ever more food, which must be diverse, balanced and of good quality to ensure the progress and well-being of humankind.
Bees are renowned for their role in providing high-quality food (honey, royal jelly and pollen) and other products used in healthcare and other sectors (beeswax, propolis, honey bee venom). But the work of bees entails much more!
The greatest contribution of bees and other pollinators is the pollination of nearly three quarters of the plants that produce 90% of the world’s food. A third of the world’s food production depends on bees, i.e. every third spoonful of food depends on pollination.
